In fact, it’s all a little confusing… Looks like a man, right? She is not considered a lesbian either, even though she makes love to other women. Stay with me; it gets a little stranger. A woman dating a woman surely makes the couple gay, right? Don’t get me wrong here; I’m not Tom bashing. Whoever people want to get down with is their business.

Blogroll Butch, Genderqueer, Genderfluid, Genderfuck and Trans Blogs to watch out for The big sexy, hot, smart, fierce, masculine, amazing, handsome, strong, sweet, thoughtful, bulging, turgid list of Butch, Genderqueer, Genderfluid, Genderfucking, Masculine-of-Center and Trans Blogs The other day, I realized I had a hunger for new butch blogs to read. What really peaks my interest are people talking about and living outside the gender binary.
I always feel a thrill when I find new blogs where the authors are exploring gender, pushing the envelope and redefining the definitions. Because my personal exploration is being done from the perspective of someone who started life female, bloggers who are on similar journeys appeal to me. I want to compare notes, I want to find new words, new ways of describing the smell, taste, sound and feeling of female-born masculinity.
Full of detailed, factual, non-judgmental information on all the things that come up for someone who is looking at options for transition from female assigned at birth to … something else on the masculine side. I especially geeked out on the explanation of the different formulations of testosterone, including chemical structure diagrams and the pros and cons of each formulation. Micah is one of my favorite people and has a lot of really smart, informative things to say about gender, identity and talks about the challenges and rewards of navigating through a binary world as a non-binary person.
This is a butch erotic blog after my own heart or maybe somewhere lower. BD joins Sinclair Sexsmith and I in the very rare world of butch erotic writers and does it with pants tightening style. I am turned on by trust and by pushing the boundaries of it. This blog is about how I see the world, both the good stuff like beer and the bad stuff like idiots , but hopefully always funny. This blogger has had a couple of articles on HuffPost look for Tristan Higgins , will probably have more in the future, and is definitely a Butch to Watch Out For.
Butch and girlfriend nice fuck
The word butch, meaning “masculine”, may have been coined by abbreviating the word butcher, as first noted in George Cassidy’s nickname, Butch Cassidy. For example, Jack Halberstam argues that FTM transgender persons cannot be considered butch since it constitutes a conflation of maleness with butchness. He further argues that butch—femme is uniquely geared to work in lesbian relationships. On the other hand, the writer Jewelle Gomez muses that butch and femme women in the earlier twentieth century may have been expressing their closeted transgender identity.
Instead, they argue that gender is socially and historically constructed, rather than essential, “natural”, or biological.

July 22, Raye, you know I love this blog and how well it explains the butch gender, butch identity and all its various aspects. I do disagree with your stance on soft butches though. Just because youre a hard, old school butch doesnt mean everyone who falls on the butch spectrum is, and thank god. Im all for a variety of flavors! I dont think its fair to assume a soft butch is anymore confused about her gender than you are. That said, ive been told by several and fully agree with it that even though i look femme, i am not entirely femme in personality. That might explain why ive had femmes hit on me and slide under my arm at times?
I am lucky to have a couple of older Butch women who have helped me enormously to come into myself. On the other hand I am now experiencing the whole Femme Invisibility issue head on. Yes, we are invisible. Yes, we look like we are straight.

Many men are attracted to women, and trans women are amongst these women. We, as a society, have not created a space for men to openly express their desire to be with trans women. We tell men to keep their attraction to trans women secret, to limit it to the internet, frame it as a passing fetish or transaction. Thousands of words have been dedicated to analyzing whether such and such famous man is now suspect, merely because he took a photo with a fan who happened to be a trans woman.
This questioning has led many well-known men to adamantly defend their heterosexuality and has tarnished the reputation and careers of others. When a man can be shamed merely for interacting with a trans women — whether it be through a photograph, a sex tape or correspondences — what does this say about how society views trans women?
More important, what does this do to trans women? This pervasive ideology says that trans women are shameful, that trans women are not worthy of being seen and that trans women must remain a secret — invisible and disposable. He must do this to maintain his standing in our patriarchal society. My sisters are trans women. We are not secrets.
We are not shameful.

I’ve always felt different but didn’t have the language to describe it.
If you’re a lesbian wading into the dating pool, you probably hear a bunch of terms like “femme” and “soft butch” being tossed around, and maybe you don’t know what they mean.
C is the butch buddy I sometimes reference in my posts; D is her wife. Since I met her a few years ago, C has been a mentor to me in many ways. She, too, used to be married to a man. She, too, appreciates a well-cut men’s shirt. We even work in similar fields. But on Christmas, I learned something about C that left me aghast:
Edit The terms butch and femme are often used to describe lesbians, but also occasionally gay men. Butch is an adjective used to describe one’s gender performance. A masculine person of any gender can be described as butch. A butch woman could be compared to an effeminate man in the sense that both genders are historically linked to gay communities and stereotypes, whether or not the individuals in question are homosexual.

That is partially true. This is something I never had to worry about with my femme partners. There are privileges that I get from being a femme and being with a femme. For example, my car has broken down on the side of the road several times and I have never had to wave anyone down. A butch woman cannot depend on the kindness of heterosexual, male strangers.
Plus, two femmes together is a sexual fantasy for most straight men and they often imagine that they can join in. BlackButchLivesMatter The BlackLivesMatter movement has shed a much needed light on how brutal and unsafe life in America is for black men, black trans women and of course black cis women. However, I believe black butches face equal, if not a higher risk of dangerous encounters than black cis men. They need a hashtag too! Just by living in their truth black butch women black studs, black doms, black tomobois, black masculine of center women or whatever label you want to use risk being victimized by some insecure heterosexist male asshole who sees her as a threat to his own masculinity.
One of the most dangerous thing to do in in front of a heterosexist man is to be an openly stud-femme couple.
